Sunshine, Green Grass, and Putters; It Must be Spring at Tri-City

By: Alexes Niekamp

Spring is finally starting to show and is welcoming in TCP Golf. The team is starting out the season with eleven members; five returning golfers, Patrick Welborn, Max Vankirk, Matt Newell, Jacob Levin and Jacob Servedio; and six new golfers, Levi Sylvester, Josh Hogan, Ashton Sands (first girl team member), Ian Glow, Thomas Gorlick and Nathaniel Trujillo.

“I just want everyone on the team to enjoy learning to play golf, competing and continue to play golf after high school,” said Bill Vankirk, founder and coach of the Golf team.

“We lost a lot of our key players, but I think the rest of our team has improved enough to fill the gap left by our losses,” said returning player Max Vankirk.

Tri-City’s golf team has been competing in the NAAA conference for the past two years, and has won the conference championship both years.

“I hope that we can continue to work as a team to successfully defend our conference title this year,” said Coach Vankirk. So far, the team is off to a great start having won the first two matches of the season.

The golf team has been working hard during practice. The golf team would like to thank the City of Prescott and Antelope Hills Golf Club for allowing them to practice at their course each season.

The main goal of the golf team is to have fun in both the practices and competitions. They also try to improve their skills as individuals and scores as a team.

Let’s wish our Tri-City Prep golf team good luck in their matches and best of wishes in their teamwork.
