Wreck-It Ralph Breaks into Theaters!

By Natalie Krafft

On November 2nd, Disney’s Wreck-It-Ralph came to theaters nationwide. Starring John C. Reilly as Wreck-it-Ralph, Sarah Silverman as Vanellope von Schweetz, and Jack McBrayer as Fix-it-Felix Junior, the movie tells the story of a bad guy who just wants to be good. Wreck-It-Ralph has been ranked number three out of twelve on IMDb trailing The Walking Dead at number two and Skyfall at number one. In its opening week, it made an estimated $49,038,712.

Ralph is on a mission to win a gold medal to prove to the other characters in the game that he can be good after overhearing that they are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the game without inviting him. This really gets him upset so he sets out to prove that he can be good. While in a video game, he manages to retrieve the medal of his dreams and leaves, accidentally landing up in Sugar Rush. It’s here that he meets Vanellope von Schweetz who is ostracized due to the fact that she’s a glitch. In exchange for stealing his medal, Ralph has to help Vanellope be an ‘adorable’ winner of a race so she can be a racer. All seems to go well until the candy king convinces Ralph not to let Vanellope race. Soon after, however, it is truly revealed as to why the candy king doesn’t want Vanellope to race.

This movie was done in beautiful computer animation. Every detail was perfected in this movie, either in human’s perspective or the video game character’s perspective. The animators really kept a lot of things in mind while making this movie.

The movie was rated PG due to violence, sexual content (although it is simply kissing at a wedding), language, and alcohol and drug use (in the movie Ralph goes to a bar because he had no idea how he was going to get a medal). Although some scenes were violent, it wasn’t overly violent. The violence was very easy to handle. Most of the violence was simply Ralph doing what he does best, wrecking things.

If you’re looking for a great holiday movie to see with family or friends that is kid friendly, Wreck-It-Ralph would be the perfect choice for any kind of occasion. It’s a very entertaining family comedy movie that’s appropriate for all ages. With lots of laughs to go around in the film, there is definitely something for everybody to enjoy in this great film by Disney.
