Pokémon Detective Pikachu

There have been a lot of live-action movies coming out. From Cinderella to the new Aladdin, there are many new and exciting movies that are live-action. The Pokémon Company, Warner Brothers Studio, and Legendary have teamed up to produce the first live-action Pokémon movie. Pokémon Detective Pikachu is a movie that Pokémon fans will enjoy. So what do we know about this movie?

The plot we get from the trailers is that Detective Pikachu (Ryan Reynolds) has amnesia, and the only way to find his memory is through his hat which has the name Harry Goodman and the address to a city called Ryme City. Harry Goodman is the father of Tim Goodman (Justice Smith). Harry Goodman has gone missing, and Tim and Detective Pikachu go on an adventure to go find him.

In the trailer, we get to see many different Pokémon, such as Mewtwo, Ludicolo, Charizard, Psyduck, and Snorlax. In the trailer, Pikachu is a very fluffy character. Pikachu in the anime does not show any signs of fur compared to Eevee, the Evolution Pokémon, which has sparked debate in the Pokémon community.  In Let’s Go Pikachu, a Nintendo Switch game, we see that you can change the hairstyle of Pikachu. This shows that Pikachu does have fur.

Now some of the Pokémon aren’t as fluffy as Pikachu. Charizard is a good example of this. In the anime, Charizard has a smooth look to the character. When we look at the character in the trailer, Charizard has scales and has the look of a dragon.

If you are a huge Pokémon fan, you know that each Pokémon can attack against other Pokémon with special attacks such as Flamethrower and Double Slap. How do the effects look in the movie? We get to see some attac in the trailer. Greninja, the Ninja Pokémon, uses Water Shuriken. The effects, in my opinion, are spectacular.

Another move showcased in Pokémon Detective Pikachu is Flamethrower. In the trailer, we see Charizard bursting out in a fighting arena and giving out a powerful Flamethrower to make the crowd excited. The animation is also incredibly realistic, as I saw when watching it.

Of course, in almost every movie, there is music. The trailers have many different songs that are used. One song that is in their trailer is “Holding Out for A Hero” sung by Bonnie Tyler. You may think of Shrek first, but the song comes from Footloose in 1986. Another song that is in “Happy Together” by Turtles. You may have heard these songs on the trailer, but there is one song that came out specifically for Pokémon Detective Pikachu. That song is called “Carry On” by Kygo and Rita Ora. It has been released before the movie has come out.

Pokémon Detective Pikachu will be released on May 10th, so if you want to go to a movie during the weekend, maybe you should go see Pokemon Detective Pikachu! It is action-packed, funny, and most likely a great movie for the entire family to watch.
